Books on Main – Your community book store!
We want to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to the community and to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone for making us feel so welcome since we opened the store in June. The community support has been more than we could have hoped for, especially during these challenging times, and we are proud to say that we sold our 1000th book just the other day!
Books on Main is a locally-owned independent bookstore in Bath’s historic downtown. We offer new and bargain books as well as puzzles and board games for children and adults of all ages. We are proud to also stock artisan products from talented local artists.
Our goal is to provide a space for enthusiastic readers and game-players to meet, discuss and discover with like-minded locals. We look forward to becoming a community hub where people can connect while browsing our selection or through one of our exciting events or clubs. (More on this when we can safely organise)
We currently offer a monthly book club and hope to host more events when it is safe to do so. Our shop is owned and operated by two local families: the Lloyds and the Ellingwood-Naglers. We first met when we bought neighbouring houses a few years ago and quickly bonded over our shared love of books and board games. When the opportunity arose to make our dream jobs a reality, our two families partnered up to open Books On Main.
Andrew Lloyd and Aline Ellingwood are the co-owners and full-time operators of the shop and receive help in the store from their respective spouses, Kristen and Tristan. Andrew is a retired member of the Canadian Forces and a father of two. He is an avid reader, especially of sci-fi books, and a worthy competitor in any board game! He is passionate about being involved in the local community and excited to share his love of reading and games with our customers.
His wife, Kristen, is our marketing guru and will be lending a hand in the shop. She is an entrepreneur and Zumba instructor and in her spare time she loves to read about health and wellness as well as play games with her family. Aline is a former kindergarten teacher which has made her passionate about literacy and developing a love of reading in children. She has played board games nearly every day since she was old enough to roll a die and loves nothing more than to curl up with a good book. She hopes that the shop will be an asset to the community and looks forward to sharing her passion and knowledge of books and games with other enthusiasts.
Her husband, Tristan, owns a local landscaping company and will lend a hand in the store as needed. He loves to read fantasy novels and discover brand new board games. Our families have poured their heart and souls into opening this shop and we are over-joyed with the positive community response so far!
